First decide: firmer or softer?
This is where most topper purchases go wrong. A topper can only change the feel of the top few inches; it cannot add support underneath. So:
- Your bed feels too soft and your hips sink, but there is no visible dip → a firm topper.
- Your bed feels too hard and your shoulder or hip aches on your side → a soft or medium topper.
