The short answer: Start with the review of the bed type you are leaning toward. If you have not decided, the DreamCloud Premier, Helix Midnight Luxe and Casper Original reviews cover the most common back-pain picks, and the Zinus Green Tea review covers the budget route.
How our reviews work
We do not claim to have slept on these beds. A review here means: we read the full Amazon listing, the spec table and the maker's bullets; we compared what the maker says about firmness and support with what owners repeatedly report; and we wrote down the details that change whether you should buy it, such as who sells it, how long the trial really is, and where the listing contradicts itself. When a listing cites a study we cannot find, we say so.

Reader questions, answered
Do you test the mattresses you review?
No, and we do not pretend to. Our reviews are based on the maker's listing, spec sheets and patterns in owner feedback. A firmness number on this site is the maker's, or our translation of the maker's wording, and we say which.
